Description

This standard applies to material hoists used to raise or lower materials during construction, alteration or demolition. It is not applicable to the temporary use of permanently installed personnel elevators as material hoists. The purpose of this standard is to set forth minimum requirements intended to provide for the safety of life, limb and property of those engaged in occupations requiring the use of material hoists. The requirements of this standard are the minimum for that purpose.
